WHEELHEAD UNIT
This equipment can be set up with the wheel axis in parallel to the workpiece axis, or tilted up to 45° for grinding outer taper profiles, faces, and lips.
The CNC-controlled Z-axis slide manages the trasversal positioning of the wheel to the workpart and dresser, as well as performing the dressing strokes. The wheelhead unit can be manually tilted on the Z-axis slide, up to an angle of 45°.
Additionally, this precision external grinding machine is equipped with an electric wheel spindle that can generate up to 50 kW of power. It is protected against contamination by an air barrier.
WORKHEAD UNIT

The workhead unit is mounted directly on the CNC-controlled X axis slide, responsible for the workpiece feed and wheel wear compensation.
The external diameter of the workhead spindle is eccentric, allowing the workpiece axis to be adjusted to the wheel axis.
The spindle body contains an electromagnetic chuck to drive the workpiece. The workhead assembly also includes an automatic loader with one or two swivel arms, as well as adjustable loading and unloading chutes.
DRESSING UNITS
Let’s find out more about the dressing units of the machine for precision external grinding NOVAMATIC PGE:
Single-point dresser: The unit can be equipped with one, two, or three single-point diamonds, depending on the desired wheel profile.
Diamond roll dresser: The dressing process is performed using a plunge system with a profiled roll or by machine axis interpolation with a forming roll. The unit is also equipped with a diamond roll rotation check device.
Double-fulcrum rotary dresser: This unit is designed to achieve wheel radius profiles with form errors of less than 1µ. It can hold up to three single-point diamonds or even an electric diamond roll spindle. The dresser unit rotation is electrically controlled by an AC motor via a gear reducer and encoder (E axis).
